We teamed up with MainPower, with support from the Waimakariri District Council, for a second year to offer a contestable fund of up to $10,000 to support local projects that enhance biodiversity in the Waimakariri region.

The criteria for choosing the recipients was focused on the long term ecological benefits of the project and how well the funded work will be protected in the future.

This round saw an outstanding response and we commend all applicants on

the quality and impact of their proposals and the work they are doing to increase indigenous biodiversity in our district.

We are proud to announce the recipients of this years funding are as follows:

Ashley-Rakahuri Rivercare Group

The Ashley Rakahuri Rivercare Group is committed to protecting the nesting birds along the Ashley-Rakahuri riverbed and estuary. This particular project focuses on protecting the Tarapirohe from predators through a trapping and monitoring program.
