International Day for Biological Diversity

Today is the International Day for Biological Diversity! This year’s theme, “Be Part of the Plan,” encourages everyone to share how they support the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF).

The purpose of the Waimakariri Biodiversity Trust is to provide information, education, and resources to help the community restore, create, and sustainably manage indigenous biodiversity in the district.

* We collaborate with landowners, the community, and other organisations on various projects. Currently, we are working on seven projects, ranging from mini forests to inanga egg protection!

* We provide advice and resources to landowners interested in enhancing biodiversity on their land.

* We organise events to educate the public about Waimakariri’s biodiversity and how to protect and enhance it.
